The world mourned when Notre Dame, a historical landmark in France, was caught in a fire and essentially destroyed. It's such a well-known place that people who don't even live in the area have been letting their grief known, giving tributes to the church and wishing the denizens of France well.
Now that the fire has subsided, plans to rebuild the iconic building are underway, with construction workers hoping to make it look as faithful to the original building before a lot of it was burned down. Obviously, they are going to need a lot of help from historians and pictures but it's doubtful that anyone expected Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Unity to be a part of that help.
GPSWorld has confirmed that the game would be a crucial part in making the building look like it's old self, especially since that iconic location looks so good in-game. The developers of this game worked for literal years to make it look as close to real-life as could be, especially since this was a next-gen game at the time, being the first game made exclusively for PS4 and Xbox One (Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag also had PS3 and Xbox 360 versions).
Assassin's Creed: Unity launched with controversy, due to the number of bugs present upon release. The game would soon receive a number of patches to make it perform better and it is now perfectly playable. Some fans even decided to boot up the game again to see Notre Dame since they never saw it in person.
Fans can purchase Assassin's Creed: Unity on PS4, Xbox One, and PC right now. Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is the most recent game in the series and is also available now in those systems.
