Apple Arcade May Have a New Rival in Google Play Pass

Apple Arcade has been a pleasant surprise to many and it looks like Google wants some of that mobile gamer money. While one would think the company would be busy with Google Stadia, it seems like Google has time to compete with Apple thanks to the recently-announced Google Play Pass. Similar to Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass will offer a monthly fee to get access to hundreds of ad-free mobile games.

On a blog post, Google confirmed a number of hit games will be a part of the service, including Monument Valley and the incredible Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, among others. It seems like more games will be added in the future, which isn't a surprise since this is how services like these thrive. At the least, fans will be paying a cheap fee for a ton of games.

Google Play Pass will cost $4.99 a month, which is already a pretty cheap price, but there's also an offer for $1.99 a month for the first 12 months. That's an amazing deal and fans of mobile games should probably check it out if they can. It's definitely better than spending thousands of dollars on freaking Gatcha games.

This isn't the first time games as a streaming service has become a thing. Apple Arcade aside, Microsoft announced the Xbox Game Pass some time ago that changed the game, giving fans a ton of games for a great monthly/yearly pay. We're expecting this to become a major theme for future consoles.

Google Play Pass will come to Android devices in the US later this week.
