Now that Game of Thrones has come and gone, ending with a thud rather than a bang, fans are hoping to get their fantasy fix with Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings series. Set before the events of the films, fans are hoping that we get a lot of Middle Earth coverage with this show since there is so much of the material to adapt.

While we wait for the show, fans will be stoked to know that Amazon is also working on a Lord of the Rings MMORPG and it will be free-to-play.

There aren’t too many details to decipher from the report, though it won’t be connected to the upcoming show, which will be set in the Second Age. However, it will be set in Middle Earth and will reportedly give players a new look at some of Tolkien’s most iconic locations. Expect a few fan-favorite characters to appear as well, though that’s just a guess than anything else.

Funnily enough, this isn’t a completely new game. Leyou Technologies actually announced a Lord of the Rings MMORPG a long time ago but didn’t state who would be publishing it. Well, now we know and it seems like they were waiting for the deals and any quirks to be ironed out first before confirming the game.

As of this writing, no release date for the Lord of the Rings MMORPG has been revealed.
