New Star Wars Theory Suggests Rey's Parents Are From Corellia

Lucasfilm

The identity of Rey's parents has been a huge mystery since the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, a new theory suggests that Rey was born to former residents of the planet Corellia.

There is no shortage of theories about Rey's parentage. Fans initially believed that she would be Luke Skywalker's daughter or Obi-Wan Kenobi's granddaughter. The Last Jedi ultimately revealed that her parents were "filthy junk traders," as Ben Solo puts it. Interestingly, this is one reason why Film Threat believes that Rey's real parents were originally from Corellia.

The new Star Wars theory suggests that Han Solo and Q'ira are Rey's parents. The idea is that Han abandoned Leia and Ben to return to his first love. Q'ira then bore him a daughter. This would mean that Ben and Rey are actually half-siblings.

The theory further points out that the Force connection between Ben and Rey is similar to how Luke and Leia can communicate. In addition to that, the idea that Q'ira, who is working for the Dark Side, has given birth to a daughter who chose the Light Side would bring balance to the Force.

It certainly seems far-fetched. However, the fact that Ben thinks Rey's parents are so lowly could be a hint at his own distaste for Han leaving his mother for another woman. This could be why he saw them as the "junk traders" that they once were in Corellia, as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Rey will return in Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled to premiere in December 2019.
