New Star Wars: Episode IX Working Title Revealed

The J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: EpisodeIX was going to film under the working title "Black Diamond" but according to a new report, the sequel now has a new working title. As Fantha Tracks reports, Episode IX will shoot under the working title "triIXie."

The title was officially changed, as Fantha Tracks notes that, "the same research methods and public sources were used by the same team to uncover the production names of every Disney era Star Wars film to date."

This report was released soon after the working title for the upcoming Obi-Wan standalone film was revealed. Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story will be in production under the title "Joshua Tree."

"TrIXie" doesn't seem to have any clear meaning other than "IX" capitalized refers to the film's episode number in Roman numerals. With the level of secrecy surrounding Episode IX being impenetrable, it would probably take months before fans can find out how the film's plot will unfold.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is still showing in theaters. Star Wars: Episode IX will hit theaters on December 20, 2019.
