New Star Trek Series to be a Seasonal Anthology Show Set in Several Points in the Main Continuity

There likely won't be a J.J. Abrams-timelined Star Trek show anymore.

This February, CBS announced Bryan Fuller as the showrunner for the new and exclusive Star Trek series for CBS All Access. Since then, fans have been wondering the continuity the upcoming show will be set in.

Well, fans no longer have to speculate.

According to Birth. Movies. Death, a trusted source has told them that Fuller‘s Star Trek will be structured seasonal anthology series style just like American Horror Story and True Detective.

This means that fans will now see an entirely new Star Trek universe with each season. However, the site also claimed that J.J. Abrams alternate Star Trek reboot universe will not be included since the new series will be set in the continuity of classic films and shows.

The first season will reportedly take place prior to Star Trek: TNG, but also after Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country.

Unfortunately, some might be disappointed to learn that no cameos from the original shows will take place during the first season since most of the crew from the original Enterprise are already dead.

On the bright side, the new anthology series has high potential in attracting veteran actors and actresses who cannot commit to the show's entire run.

This is certainly exciting news. The possibilities are space high.
