After it was announced that Deadpool 2 would be moving its release date up, from June to May, fans were shocked to find out that The New Mutants would be moved as well. Instead of moving up like Deadpool, it is moving way down and will actually be delayed till 2019, after originally being scheduled for an April release. The film has been moved from April 13 this year to February 22, 2019.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that the horror-themed comic book adaptation was moved to avoid an overlap of X-Men films on foreign markets. Apparently, some countries would have shown Deadpool 2 and The New Mutants at the same time, so Fox wanted to avoid that. It's not a bad move and some might even praise it, due to the number of comic book adaptations that are coming out this year.

What should make fans happy is that the film doesn't seem to be plagued with any serious production problems. Unlike Gambit, which lost its third director, it seems like the core cast and crew of The New Mutants will stay largely the same. Hopefully, it stays this way since the film has the chance to be one of the unique superhero films, even if it is coming out next year.

The New Mutants will now be showing on February 22, 2019.
