New Deleted Scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi Extends Finn and Phasma’s Sequence

Though a lot of people were hoping that Star Wars: The Last Jedi would redeem Captain Phasma, she ended up looking completely useless in the film. A new deleted scene, however, extends the confrontation between Finn and Phasma, and shows just how competent she is as a fighter.

Check out the scene at 1:37:

The sequence actually has Finn surrounded by more troopers and it lines up with previous rumors that Finn will try to coax them to betray Phasma since she was the one who put down the shields at Starkiller Base. This leads to Phasma disposing of all the troopers herself until Finn stops her by cutting off her hand and blasting her off the platform.

I like how Finn actually addresses Phasma's cowardice in the previous movie, and her decision to kill off her own troops lines up with her character from the Phasma novel. A lot of fans are still hopeful that Phasma will be back in the next film, though, even director Rian Johnson hasn't ruled out her survival.

The home release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi promises over 2 hours of content including deleted scenes and cast interviews. Hopefully this will keep every Star Wars fan content as they wait for the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story in May.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits digital March 13, and Blu-Ray on March 27.
