My Hero Academia Movie Reportedly Coming Next Year

It was only a matter of time before My Hero Academia got an anime film. Reports have come in that a movie for the superhero anime/manga is on the way, with a possible 2018 release. The series has quickly become a phenomenon, with many calling it this generation's Naruto or Dragon Ball, so a new anime film was the next logical step.

Moetron, who spotted the update on Manga Helpers, confirmed the news. Fans look at Moetron as a trusted source for this kind of news, so it is essentially official. Apparently, the anime film will be officially confirmed in the latest issue of Shonen Jump, which comes out on December 11.

The superhero anime/manga has been the subject of a lot of news recently, with the third season coming next year and a console game called My Hero Academia: One's Justice for PS4 and Nintendo Switch announced. It's clear that the series is only going to get bigger from here, so we can expect more of these in the future.

Anime films like these usually aren't too important story-wise, but it does mean a higher than usual budget than what fans are used to on tv. Considering how the show has high-quality animation, one can only imagine how great the film will look.

No release date for the film has been revealed, though it will supposedly come out in 2018.
