Mortal Kombat Reboot Producer Debunks Characters List Leak

Earlier this week, word came out that the character listing for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot had made its way online.

Thanks to The Hashtag Show, Mortal Kombat fans got to see a long cast list giving the character descriptions of fan-favorite characters like Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Liu Kang, as well as new characters like Cole Turner.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Warner Brothers producer Todd Garner has just come out on Twitter to debunk the leaked information. Responding to a fan asking whether the Mortal Kombat news is valid and whether the franchise would be "butchered" by "veering too far from source material," Garner went on to say that fans shouldn't trust the information that was going around online because "nothing is happening with the movie at this time."

This new report certainly brings about mixed feelings for fans of the Mortal Kombat video game and film franchise. Sure, everyone might want a Mortal Kombat reboot closer to its source material, but hearing that the Warner Brothers isn't actually working on the film yet is kind of disappointing.

Hopefully, the studio will start working on the film soon, and this time, add Scorpion and Sub-Zero to its list of characters.

The Mortal Kombat reboot doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
