More Star Trek: Discovery Spin-offs Already Being Discussed For CBS All Access

The second season of Star Trek: Discovery has not yet premiered yet CBS is already planning on spin-off shows in the future.

Fans were recently delighted when Patrick Stewart confirmed that he would reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard in a new TV series. Interestingly, the Star Trek: The Next Generation captain's show is not the only one that is being planned by CBS in the near future. In an interview with Deadline, EVP Original Content Julie McNamara revealed that the network has considered bringing back Michelle Yeoh's Phillipa Georgiou in a spin-off show.

"I wouldn't say at this point that we are actively pursuing a Michelle Yeoh series but it has been discussed," McNamara stated.

Yeoh only appeared briefly in the first season of Discovery. Not surprisingly, fans are hoping that Phillipa's story will be explored further in one of the planned spin-off shows.

McNamara also admitted that CBS has thought about giving Rainn Wilson's Harry Mudd his own series. However, she was quick to point out that the idea has not "progressed any further."

Although it is still unlikely that Harry Mudd will be getting his own show, Wilson is still set to return in Star Trek: Short Treks later this year. The former star of The Office will also direct the short film in which his character will appear. That's almost as good as Harry getting his own series after all.

CBS has not yet announced the premiere date of Star Trek: Discovery Season 2. Nevertheless, the series is expected to return in January 2019.
