Melissa Benoist Will Voice A Nazi Version Of Supergirl

Freedom Fighters: The Ray is the latest CW Seed animated program, and will be the first time a gay superhero is the lead character of a superhero show. The show is set in a universe where the Nazis won World War II, and will even have Nazi versions of CW DC characters. One of them is Overgirl, this universe's version of Supergirl, and she will be voiced by Kara Zor-EL herself Melissa Benoist.

It's not clear how major she will be in the series, but Marc Guggenheim did tell TV Insider that Benoist had a good time voicing the bad character. "It was fun to hear her voice records and see she's capable of a darkness," said Guggenheim. "I think she really enjoyed playing the bad guy for a bit!"

Overgirl won't be the only evil version of the character we see, as Guggenheim has also confirmed Nazi versions of The Flash and Green Arrow. However, it wasn't made clear if Grant Gustin and Stephen Amell will voice these versions of their characters, though it would be fun to hear them. Both Gustin and Amell reprised their roles for the Vixen CW Seed show, so they could do the same for Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

Freedom Fighters: The Ray premieres in CW Seed this fall. This is the third CW Seed series based on a DC property, after Vixen and Constantine.
