Max Landis Not Writing Bright Sequel

Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and David Ayer will be returning to the Bright sequel, which should excite many fans of the first film. However, one notable name who won't be returning is Max Landis, who wrote the screenplay for the movie. Landis had been accused of sexual assault allegations recently and it looks like Netflix wants to avoid any controversy related to the writer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Landis had been paid $3 million to $4 million for the screenplay of Bright. Critics didn't like the film but it is currently a success with Netflix users, where it is the number one film in 190 countries. With that kind of success, it looks like the amount of money Landis was paid may have been worth it.

Allegations of Landis' behavior started surfacing around the same time Bright was coming out. YouTube personality Anna Akana, who worked with Landis on his Wrestling isn't Wrestling video, was the first to point out Landis' behavior. Soon after, a number of people lashed out against Landis as 2017 closed out, making him another Hollywood personality accused of being a sexual predator.

Bright can now be streamed on Netflix.
