Matt Reeve’s The Batman Reportedly A Reboot Without Ben Affleck

News surrounding Ben Affleck and The Batman can be so confusing.

Though Geoff John's recent job change at Warner Bros. has been the highlight of the news day, Deadline's report regarding John's decision to step down from his role as the DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer also has an update about Matt Reeve's The Batman.

According to the report, The Batman movie is "likely" going to be a reboot movie. Not only that, but the "standalone" franchise is going to have a new actor take the lead instead of having Affleck play the film's Dark Knight.

This new report adds to the confusion regarding Affleck's future in the DC Extended Universe. There have been varying reports regarding The Batman and Affleck's involvement in the film. Previous reports indicated that Affleck was no longer interested in the role, wanting to leave Warner Brother's burgeoning superhero franchise after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and after Justice League. However, last week word had it that Affleck actually wanted to keep the cowl on and was going to play the Caped Crusader in The Batman movie.

This week the story changes again. Though Deadline isn't likely to write a report without having credible sources, it's pretty hard to know what Affleck and Warner Bros. really have planned given the frequency of these Batman stories. We'll just really have to wait and see what happens to the DCEU.
