Masters of the Universe Reboot Gets Filming Date

It looks like David S. Goyer's Masters of the Universe reboot is finally taking a few steps forward. Sony apparently has plans to start filming the reboot this April, in hopes of releasing the movie on December 18, 2019. This could always be changed since the film would compete with Star Wars: Episode IX if it comes out on that date. Still, it's nice to know that the movie could start being made soon.

According to Omega Underground, the current plan is to film the movie in Europe. Sony seems to be set in filming there since the upcoming reboot of The Crow starring Jason Momoa will also be shot in Europe, particularly in Budapest, Hungary. The exact location in Europe isn't known yet.

Lindsey Beer, an up-and-coming studio writer, is penning the current screenplay for the reboot. She has also worked on Chaos Walking, Godzilla vs Kong, and Barbie. Apparently, she is also involved with the upcoming Star Trek film directed by Quentin Tarantino, so that's quite a resume.

He-Man hasn't been in the public eye for some time, though that might change soon. There is a She-Ra: Princess of Power remake coming to Netflix by Lumberjanes creator Noelle Stevenson. It seems like this Masters of the Universe reboot is the next step towards making this franchise a big deal again.
