Marvel’s Runaways: Fan Describes Some Of The Changes Made From The Comics

Of all the comic book-related television shows coming out - and there are a lot - few match the anticipation Marvel's Runaways has. Created by Brian K. Vaughan of Saga and Paper Girls fame, the series was a big hit with comic book fans, since it introduced them to a great concept and even greater characters. While the show doesn't premiere on Hulu till November, a fan of the comics has managed to view the first two episodes and detailed how it differs from the source material.

The fan told Bleeding Cool that the first two episodes of the show are mostly faithful to the original comic books. However, there are a number of sub-plots that were made just for the show. Nico Minoru now has a dead sister and Karolina Dean's mother is the head of a cult.

More details can be seen in the fan's description below:

"The first two are partially faithful to the first two issues of the comics, though the kids are all the same age, and there's a mystery about Nico's dead sister. There is a whole subplot where Karolina's mother heads up a religious cult (the Church of Gibborim), and all of The Pride wear red robes. The dinosaur shows up briefly, and there's a creepy figure bandaged in a white room at the cult building. In the first two, only two of the kids manifest their powers."

Marvel's Runaways will premiere on Hulu in November 21. The series focuses on a group of teenagers who find out that their parents are actually super villains. A new comic book series written by Rainbow Rowell and drawn by Kris Anka will be released as a way to promote the show, though it won't be a tie-in. In fact, it will be a continuation of the previous Runaways comic book series, which should excite fans.
