Marvel's New Warriors No Longer Airing On Freeform

In a rather surprising move, the Disney-owned Freeform will no longer be airing Marvel's New Warriors television show. The half-hour scripted comedy is currently being shopped to other networks, putting Marvel in a bit of a bind. Some sources say that we could see the show in the upcoming Disney subscription service, but that is far from official.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Freeform could not find a scheduled slot for this show. Marvel decided to ask for the series back since they want the 10-episode comedy to air in the new year, with Freeform obliging. It will be interesting to see which network ends up getting the show, given the mixed reputation Marvel has with television shows.

The show is meant to be the first comedy series from Marvel, starring a cast of superpowered individuals who are trying to find their place in the world. Fan-favorite character Squirrel Girl will be leading the group, comprising of Mister Immortal, Debrii, Microbe, Night Thrasher and Speedball. It will be interesting to see how the show connects to the larger MCU, though we shouldn't expect an Avengers cameo anytime soon.

New Warriors is scheduled to debut in 2018, though it won't be with Freeform.
