Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger Get Budget & Possible Filming Date

Marvel's TV series have shone time and again as a cohesive work throughout the different solo and upcoming joined forces onscreen.

Indeed, this year alone, a number of Marvel TV series are set to debut, which begs the question of just how big the Marvel TV universe will go. A lot of these are in Netflix, such as Luke Cage, The Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, as well as the upcoming Iron Fist and The Defenders.

One other Marvel TV show that's supposedly already in progress is Marvel's Cloak and Dagger. While not a Netflix original series, the TV series will be based on the titular comic and characters.

There aren't a lot that's known about the series, but from the looks of it, filming may start very soon. Filming tracking website Season Zero has tweeted that filming may start as early as Feb. 15. What's more, the shoot location was also revealed to be in New Orleans.

Of course, leaks like these should be taken with a grain of salt. Following fan inquiry on whether Marvel's Cloak and Dagger even has a cast to start filming, the source added that "they are casting right now."

Apart from the expected filming date start, CBM also managed to learn that Freeform's upcoming Marvel TV series may actually have a budget of $42 million. The budget is for a shoot that will last for 86 days. Comparisons with other Marvel TV series that were shown in Netflix suggest that Marvel may be looking at its franchises equally as far as the budget allocation is concerned.

Marvel's Cloak and Dagger series will supposedly be shown on Freeform, formerly ABC Family. This is actually a grounded love story between two teenagers who get superpowers after being forcefully injected with drugs.

Given the teenage age range of the characters and the youngish target audience of Freeform, it's likely that the cast for lead characters Ty "Cloak" Johnson and Tandy "Dagger" Bowen will be of around the young adult market age.
