Marvel's Champions Gets New Creative Team in April

After the events of Civil War II, some of Marvel's youngest heroes banded together and formed The Champions. As a group, they did everything they could to not just save the world but make it a better place. With a creative team comprising of Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos, Champions was a comic that received mixed reviews with some liking the social justice approach, while others thought it was too preachy.

Still, there's no denying that the series has left an impression. Jim Zub and Sean Izaakse hope to continue doing that, as they take over the book Waid and Ramos started in April.

Talking with CBR, Zub confirmed that the team would be starting with April's Champions #19 and will be adding two new members to the group; Nadia Pym aka The Unstoppable Wasp and Riri Williams, who goes by the codename Ironheart. Both members are smart choices since they worked with the group during Secret Empire.

Zub also told new readers that Champions #19 will be acting as a jumping-on point for those that haven't picked up the title during Waid's tenure. It will be interesting to see how Zub does with the youthful team. The writer confirmed that he will be keeping Waid's social justice approach, while also adding more classic superhero subplots, which should be fun,

Champions #19 comes out in April. Considering how many team books Zub has worked on - Thunderbolts and Uncanny Avengers - he should be a good fit for the book.
