Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller's departure from Lucasfilm's highly anticipated Han Solo spinoff project caused a lot of commotion last week. The production seemed to go along pretty swimmingly to fans following the standalone film's principal photography, and it was shocking that the studio had decided to remove the two directors while Han Solo was so deep into production.

Not only have the reports caused fans to worry endlessly for the Star Wars spinoff, but it's also caused many to question the leadership of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Now, in an interview with Yahoo Movies, Marvel President Kevin Feige gives his thoughts on the matter, supporting Kennedy and her decisions.

"Kathy's [Kennedy] an unbelievable inspiration over the past few years that I've been lucky enough to get to know here. All the movies she's made became the reason that I wanted to make moves. Being on the inside of any movie you understand. You've got to oversee the whole thing and take care of the vision of the overarching film. I would trust Kathy with any of the decisions she has to make, because she's been making them amazingly for 30-plus years."

It's understandable how Feige sympathizes with Kennedy – he himself is a head of a major Hollywood franchise and knows how difficult it is to can directors. Edgar Wright who had originally been hired to direct Ant-Man had also been made to leave the project after being attached to the project for years because of "creative differences."

Now that Lucasfilm has Ron Howard to direct Han Solo we hope that everything smoothens out from here on end.

Han Solo hits cinemas on May 25, 2018.
