Marvel Gets a Collector-Inspired Disney Attraction

When fans first saw the insides of The Collector’s very own vault, it’s almost like being transported to a museum--one that feels very plausible as part of a franchise beyond the movies.

This has finally become a reality as Disney and Marvel unveiled the first look at the Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! Located at the Disney California Adventure park, the new attraction showcases The Collector’s Fortress, which is housed in a building that looks playful as it is intimidating.

The Collector, Taneleer Tivan, will be housing his rare collection here, and it will even include the newest acquisitions: the Guardians of the Galaxy. Considering the name of the attraction, the Guardians won’t be staying put in their holding areas, and if the likes of Rocket can get out, you know the entire gang will follow.

Tivan’s entire building is a marvel in itself, but the background behind the facade is what makes it even more interesting:

“The fortress shimmers with colorful and sparkling details; pipes cross and climb the exterior, carrying the organic matter the Tivan Group has mined to power the massive generator that powers the entire building, keeping every cage locked and the valuable collection secure. Rising and falling gantry lifts peek out of doors exposed through the corroded, burnt metal, and it even looks as if the structure may have taken laser fire and blasts. Has someone tried to attack the facility?”

This new attraction is built on the grounds of the Tower of Terror. It’s supposed to signal the greater expansion of the Marvel franchise for Disney parks. While the California branch has effectively closed the Tower of Terror, that attraction is still available in other locations.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will be open come May 27 at Disney California Adventure park.
