Mark Hamill Thinks The Force Awakens Was A Missed Opportunity

Though Star Wars: The Force Awakens turned out to be a massive success back in 2015, there is no doubt that some fans have a few criticisms to say about the movie. One complaint doesn't even come from a fan at all, but from Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, who thinks that The Force Awakens could've been done better.

Here's a video (via JarJar Abrams) of Hamill voicing his concerns at Star Wars Celebration:

Apparently, Hamill was a bit disappointed that Han Solo had died before he could have any reunion with Luke. Hamill's idea for the story treatment would have Leia and Luke present during the murder of Han Solo, supposedly giving more emotional weight to the scene as compared to just being witnessed by people who only "knew Han for 20 minutes." Of course, Chewbacca was there to see it, but with Han's history with Luke and Leia, it would have been satisfying to see a reunion of the three.

Then again, Hamill went on to say that he's "full of terrible ideas" and J.J. Abrams probably had more in store for Luke's story in The Last Jedi. It would have been hard to isolate Luke and Rey once more if the Resistance already knew where he was, so we'll just have to trust the screenwriters at Lucasfilm that they know what they're doing.

Though I was also a bit disheartened that we didn't get to see a reunion, I am hopeful to see what's in store for Rey and the others when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on Dec. 15.
