Mark Hamill Disappointed That Star Wars Prequels Had Too Little Of Darth Maul

Everyone has something to say about the Star Wars prequel trilogy, even Star Wars legend Mark Hamill.

Though the Skywalker saga has been moving forward with everyone waiting for the sequel trilogy's The Last Jedi to release later this year, Hamill continues to express his disappointment with the prequel trilogy and its lack of Darth Maul.

According to a report by Polygon, Hamill spoke with reporters at Disney's D23 expo last weekend about the Star Wars franchise, saying that he was enamored by the Dathomirian Sith Lord's appearance and was terribly disappointed that he had only appeared in the prequel series for a single movie.

"Darth Maul was just the coolest looking," Hamill told reporters. "I couldn't believe they disposed of him so quickly. I thought he would last through all three movies!"

A lot of fans feel the same way as well – though Maul only had about six minutes of screen time in The Phantom Menace the Sith Lord and his double edged saber certainly made an impression killing off Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jin. It was certainly a surprise how Ewan McGregor's young Obi-Wan Kenobi was able to cut him into half in the movie and many feel like Maul was just another wasted opportunity. Sure Dave Filoni's been giving Maul a decent spotlight in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but fans would have certainly loved to see more of the Sith Lord on the big screen too.

Star Wars Rebels Season 4 premieres on Disney XD on September 23.
