Someone started a petition that asks Wizards of the Coast to end the Magic: The Gathering's Reserved List Policy. The petition has a goal of 500 signatures, and 273 people signed it by the time I'm writing this article.

The Reserved List is an actual list of Magic: The Gathering cards that Wizards of the Coast promised to never reprint to maintain their individual value.

"There is an entire generation of new players that may never be able to play with the cards on this list, simply because they can not afford these cards," the petition explains. "This causes an undue burden upon new players aspiring to play eternal formats."

The petition considers the policy outdated, and says that removing it would help both the community and the company.

"We desire that WOTC remove this policy and reprint these cards as sealed product. This will benefit the company and players alike."

"We feel that this change will not affect the collecting community, as collectors often keep their collections," it read. "We do know however that by changing this policy WOTC will directly affect dealers, who buy, trade, and sell collections."

As the ManaSource puts it, there is nothing stopping Wizards of the Coast from altering their policy, so if this petition gets enough signatures and WOTC decides to give them what they want, they can do that, but of course, a lot of collectors who thinks the Reserved List is important would be upset.

If you want to sign this petition, you can go to Change.org.

Even if the petition gets enough signatures, these kinds of petitions don't usually get nowhere but it's interesting to see some players bring up this problem in the community to make more people aware about it.
