Mads Mikkelsen Wants To Play Doctor Doom In Fox’s Solo Movie

Legion creator Noah Hawley announced that he was working on a Doctor Doom movie for 20^th Century Fox during the San Diego Comic Con last month, and it looks like Mads Mikkelsen wants in.

Back in March, the Cannes Film Festival Award-winning actor actually let out that he had tried to audition in the Fantastic Four reboot by Josh Trank, and though he didn't say what role he was actually auditioning for, fans were guessing that it might have been Doctor Doom.

Speaking with Screen Geek during the London Film and Comic-Con, Mikkelsen opened up about wanting to play the Fantastic Four's archenemy, Victor Von Doom, in Hawley's Doctor Doom.

"Yeah, it's always interesting. They are experimenting with doing some of the villain's stories as well. Let's see if they do that. I'm not familiar that they've done it with anyone yet. They haven't done it with The Joker [and] they haven't done it with The Penguin. So we'll see when that day comes."

When asked about what he looks for in a villainous role, Mikkelsen replies:

"Well, I hope that all characters have a little more rounded shape in the sense that they have two sides of the coin. Yes, they are villains. Hannibal is a baddie – but at the same time, we kind of like him. I think all characters – goodies or baddies, should have a little of both and I think that every actor looks for that in a character."

The Danish actor's played quite a number of baddies in his career so it makes sense that the Marvel star would express interest in a movie focused on telling the story of Doctor Doom. They say a hero is only as good as its villain, and Mikkelsen certainly knows how to play his part in every film that he's in. Let's hope that Hawley manages to work out a deal to have Mikkelsen on board.

The Doctor Doom movie doesn't have a release date just yet, but we'll keep everyone updated as soon as word comes out.
