MCU Characters Confirmed To Appear in The New Spider-Man Films

Nine months ago, Marvel Studios president Keivn Fiege, said that Marvel Cinematic Universe characters "could appear" in the upcoming Spider-Man films with Sony, as part of the agreement made with the company. Feige's use of the word "could" meant that there was a chance that they would eventually crossover in a solo Spider-Man film, and now, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige confirmed that MCU characters will, in fact, appear in the standalone Spider-Man films: "He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,"

It would be interesting to see more Marvel characters get more screentime on Spider-Man films, but this raises a few questions: if an actor shows up ina Sony Spider-Man film, would that count us a part of their nine-picture deal with Marvel? Or would those need to be negotiated separately? Would characters from the Netflix-exclusive shows appear in Spider-Man films?

The first Spider-Man film (possibly titled Spider-Man: Homecoming) hits theaters July 7, 2017. He will make his first appearance as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, which is set to release on May 5, 2016. You can watch the new trailer here.
