The release date for Star Wars second spin-off film has been confirmed.

For the past few months Lucasfilm has seemingly been trying to hold off on the decision whether to have the Han Solo standalone premiere in the summer or debut around Christmas like the recent film installments in the Star Wars franchise. Because of the success of the December releases of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars story, the studio decided to push back the May 2017 release date of Star Wars: The Last Jedi to December this year. This sparked speculations that Han Solo would be pushed back to December 2018 as well.

These rumors where further fueled by Lucasfilm's hesitancy to talk give the film's specific May release date when talking about the film, opting to say that the spinoff is expected to premiere sometime 2017. Now, according to Comicbook, the Han Solo spinoff is officially set for its original May 25, 2018 release. This release date has been announced along with reports that principal photography for the film has officially begun.

Now fans know that Han Solo is set to join 2018's Summer blockbuster schedule, three weeks right before Disney releases Incredibles 2 and three weeks right after Disney's Marvel Studio releases Avengers: Infinity War. It's going to be Star Wars summer in 2018.
