Lucasfilm Auctions Off Autographed Star Wars Items For Northern California Victims

In 2017, Northern California suffered a series of fires that caused billions of dollars worth of destruction, killed many, and injured hundreds of people. Since Lucasfilm's headquarters is located in San Francisco and many of their employees live in affected areas, the studio showed its support for Northern California by auctioning off its porg maquette and two autographed screen-used First Order Stormtrooper helmets, and the proceeds will be going to Tipping Point's Emergency Fire Relief Fund.

The porg maquette was used in Star Wars: The Last Jedi to represent the bird creatures living in Ahch-To. Here's the official description from the auction:

"This limited-edition porg maquette is one of five ever made and features the autographs of director/writer Rian Johnson, producer Kathleen Kennedy and creature designer Neal Scanlan. With detailed etching and colors, the statuette showcases the doe-eyed creature that populated the sacred Jedi island of Ach-To. This particular porg was used as a film prop to line up shots in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and was used on several locations overseas and in-studio throughout the filmmaking process. The exclusive collectable arrives posed on a wood block with each signature in bold, black ink. Funds from this sale will benefit Tipping Point's Emergency Fire Relief Fund, supporting low-income communities affected by the devastating fires in the North Bay."

The two helmets auctioned were used in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here's the description of the helmets from the IfOnly website: "Feel the Force flow through this iconic prop from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Includes one full-size First Order stormtrooper helmet with autographs from two of the franchise's creative geniuses [director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy]."

At the time of this writing, the current bid for one of the helmets is at $6,000 USD and the other is at $5,000 USD. The current bid for the porg maquette is $3,400.
