Lois Lane Actress Margot Kidder Dies at 69

Margot Kidder found fame when she played Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in Richard Donner's Superman movies, but news has come out that Kidder has died at the age of 69.

According to BBC, a funeral home in Livingston, Montana confirmed that Kidder died on Sunday. No official cause of death has been mentioned, but it is worth noting that Kidder suffered from mental illness sometime around the 90s.

With Lois Lane being one of the most iconic roles in pop culture, several actresses have reached out to Kidder and her family online. Teri Hatcher, who played Lois in Lois & Clark had this to say about Kidder's passing:

Actress Sarah Douglas, who played Ursa in Superman 2, also had shared her thoughts on Kidder, and laments on how the two were friends over the decades.

So saddened by the news that dear #MargotKidder has died peacefully in her sleep yesterday. We continued to have fun together over the last 40 years and she was a joy to be around. pic.twitter.com/16ARRj6Hy6

Besides playing Lois Lane, Kidder was also an activist who even got arrested during a protest for the Keystone XL pipeline back in 2011. Some fans have also taken the time to remember how Kidder spoke about her battle with mental illness at a time when it was considered taboo.

Margot Kidder should be remembered as much for courageously, candidly discussing her battles with mental illness as for any screen role.
There are no Supermen— or women. It is not a character deficiency to acknowledge such struggles and get the help and treatment you need!
