Logan Director James Mangold Talks About His Idea For An X-23 Spinoff

A lot of Marvel fans were pretty impressed by Dafne Keen's performance in Logan this year. Though everyone was focused on Hugh Jackman in his last film as Wolverine, movie viewers couldn't help but admire the depth and intensity of Keen's delivery as Laura Kinney.

Knowing how rare it is to see a child actress as good as Keen, Logan director James Mangold has made quick work by talking to 20th Century Fox about having the young Spanish-British actress return to the big screen as X-23.

Now, in an interview with Screen Rant, Mangold reveals his big film idea for the young clone of Wolverine.

"A very honest film about young people, is what I'd say – a very honest film about young people growing up."

Though Mangold doesn't provide too many details about the film he'd make if ever he'd get the chance to work on a spin-off for X-23, it does tell fans that the director plans to work with Keen as soon as he can. Given his response, it seems like Mangold might even want to have the film start right after (or a few months or years after) the events of Logan. While it might not be the same as his R-Rated Wolverine movie, it sure will be interesting to see young mutants growing up on the run.

Logan releases on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K on May 23, 2017.
