Logan Director James Mangold On Those Boba Fett Rumors Circulating Online

There's been a lot of talk about Star Wars spinoff the past few months, and one of the standalone movies that Lucasfilm reportedly has planned is centered around one of the franchise's most popular bounty hunters, Boba Fett. One of the rumors that have been surrounding the Boba Fett movie is that Logan writer and director James Mangold would be helming the movie for Lucasfilm.

Now, Mangold has decided to debunk these rumors on social media. Taking to Twitter, the filmmaker decided to respond to a fan bashing the idea of having Mangold direct the Boba Fett standalone, saying that he's too busy "making a period car racing movie with Christian Bale and Matt Damon" and that there wouldn't be any "Mandalorians" involved in his upcoming film.

The director also decided to take a little jab at the rabid Star Wars fan, saying that in his opinion "children in cages" are the "worst idea ever."

Mangold seems to have gotten a taste of the toxicity of the Star Wars franchise these past few days after deciding to give his two-cents about the way Star Wars fans have been treating Mission: Impossible director Chris McQuarrie and Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

It definitely isn't easy being a director these days, especially when fans feel like they could do a better job, or that they're entitled to things going their way in the Star Wars franchise. Creative licence and creative freedom? Forget that, fans want to get what they want.

Lucasfilm's latest release, Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently screening in cinemas.
