Logan Director Clarifies Previous Disney/Fox Statement

When the Disney/Fox merger was first rumored, one of the people who expressed concern over the move was Logan director James Mangold. He was worried that it would lead to less original films being made but hoped whatever decision was made would benefit movies in general. This lead to some fans thinking that he wasn't a fan of the X-Men moving to the MCU but that isn't the case.

On Twitter, Mangold responded to an article by clarifying his statement. He said that he wasn't worried about the X-Men since there are many talented individuals behind those stories. What he's worried about is the scrutiny non-comic book adaptations would face in the near future, which is a pretty legitimate concern.

Comic book adaptations have been all the rage these days, from the Avengers to the Justice League. Now that Disney owns Fox, they will be able to have the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU. However, the fact that Disney now owns the studio could mean that we won't have any original films in the near future, lessening the options for filmmakers with original ideas.

Admittedly, it's not all negativity. The company will be keeping Deadpool R rated after all. Hopefully, this means we will still get original films from Fox, though it's too early to say anything.
