Leonard Nimoy, best known for playing the Mr. Spock, the logical pointy-eared Vulcan and first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie franchise Star Trek, died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, The New York Times reported. The Star Trek icon was 83.
Nimoy was hospitalized last week following complaints of severe chest pains. Last year Nimoy revealed that he had been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Nimoy's wife Susan Nimoy said that the cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
