Leighton Meester To Star In New Time Travel Comedy Series

Leighton Meester is coming back to television. After going on a TV hiatus following the Gossip Girl finale in 2012, the 29-year-old actress has found her new home on FOX's time travel-themed series, Making History.

According to TVLine, Meester already signed a contract to portray the female lead in the series' pilot.

Making History will tell the story of three friends who have discovered time travel and who have decided to use this newfound knowledge to explore, have fun, go on adventures, and increase financial gain in the process. While the trio is able to visit the most important moments in history, they can't escape their present and their knowledge of time travel will inevitably make their lives more complicated.

The upcoming series is also a comedy, therefore it will feature a mixture of humor and pop culture that audiences might enjoy.

Meester plays Deborah, a "smart, motivated, and foreign" woman living in the late 1700's. However, she's too progressive for her time. Her ideas about women's part in society as well as racial equality have made her a kind of social outcast. It's these kinds of ideas that mesh well with the people of 2016 and I'm assuming that she'll meet someone from the future who has her same ideals and who will be a potential love interest.

Meester has appeared in several other TV series including 7th Heaven, 24, Veronica Mars, House M.D. and CSI: Miami. She's most famous for playing Blair Waldorf in The CW's Gossip Girl. It's hard to imagine the actress starring as the lead of another series since her perfect portrayal of Manhattan's queen bee Blair Waldorf since 2007.

Hopefully, Making History will offer us something that we really haven't seen before and that Meester will yet again turn a character into one of the most loved on TV.
