Legendary Star Wars Screen Writer Lawrence Kasdan Says He’s Working On A Bossk Spin-Off Movie

It isn't any secret that Lucasfilm has been looking to expand the Star Wars franchise. Not only has the studio given Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson free reign over his own Star Wars trilogy, they've also begun preparing a live-action Star Wars series under the direction of Jon Favreau as well as a line of Star Wars spinoff movies that focus on popular characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and Yoda.

Now, right after the premiere of Lucasfilm's most recent Star Wars spinoff, Solo: A Star Wars Story, writers Lawrence and Jon Kasdan may have revealed another spinoff movie for fans to celebrate – one for the rugged male Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk.

Speaking in a lengthy interview with Screen Rant about Solo, the father and son writing duo got to talking about the various references littered in the film, one of which included Bossk. During the discussion with the publication, legendary Star Wars screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan revealed that he was doing a Bossk spinoff.

When the publication tried to clarify Lawrence's statement, Jon confirmed:

"Yeah, he's writing the Bossk movie. Aurra Sing is another character that comes originally out of the prequels. She was a great bit of design. She became a total bit of cosplay fun. And I thought this is exactly the kind of person that would beef up Beckett's reputation. And one of the gifts of Star Wars, and I think it's, you know, it's true to these movies, is that you always come in with a lot of stuff having happened off screen, that you can reference. And it's, it's fun. It feels like, "What happened there?" And it happens when the first scene with Han and A New Hope. And we definitely want to keep that tradition alive."

This is the first time that we've heard of Lucasfilm even thinking of a Bossk movie. Could the Kasdans be pulling legs? But then again, the studio has been working to expand the franchise – a Bossk movie isn't entirely improbable. Or is it? We'll have to wait for further confirmation from Lucasfilm.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently screening in cinemas.
