Konami Makes Artificial Intelligence to Identify Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards

It's just a matter of time before technology can catch up for the ultimate Yu-Gi-Oh! experience. You know, the kind of game with the cool projections of creatures you summon just like in the anime. We might have to wait years for that kind of tech to be available but you don't have to wait for an Artificial Intelligence that could identify Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.

At the 2018 Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association meeting, Konami announced that it had developed AI-enabled technology that can identify 9,000-plus Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.

As Nekkeireports, the first system Konami made could only identify half the cards accurately after learning them over the course of a twenty-day period. The company realized that the tech wouldn't be usable, so it developed a technique called "translucent composite learning." The cards' CG versions were created with two variations combined into semi-transparent compositions, so a new AI system was created, and it was able to learn 9,000-plus Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in a four-to-five day spam with 100% accuracy rate.

Hopefully, Wizards of the Coast will create an AI for Magic: The Gathering as well.
