Kit Harington Thinks That Game Of Thrones Is Ending At Just The Right Time

Some Game of Thrones fans might feel like HBO's ending the fantasy epic too soon, but Kit Harington thinks that the series is coming to an end at just the right time for everyone involved in the series' production.

Harington spoke with the Digital Spy on the set of BBC One's upcoming British television drama series, Gunpowder, and during the interview with the publication, the actor said that he's ready to move on and leave the Bastard King of the North behind.

Though it's going to be a painful goodbye for everyone in Game of Thrones, Harington thinks that season 8 is the right time for the story to end and everyone involved in the series' production to part ways.

"Thrones is coming to the end at the right time for me, and everyone involved in it. I was exchanging emails with David [Benioff] Dan [Weiss] last night and we were all getting very soppy and emotional with each other. It will be liberating, just the thought of having a whole year free – you shoot for six months, but half of the projects you might want to do will have started shooting before that six months is over. There's a lot of things you can't do. I'm looking forward to finishing, and eight years is the right amount of time. I wouldn't want it to go on any longer than it has. I have other ideas I'd like to look at producing."

Game of Thrones has been running for seven years, and while fans definitely want more (almost everyone hates the hastened pace that brought about the instantaneous traveling), Harington and the other series' stars must be tired of the limitations the fantasy epic puts on them. Harington must want to start shaving his beard.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres sometime in 2018 or 2019.
