Kevin Feige Talks About Whether Marvel Would Introduce A Female Thor

There's been a lot of interest over the possibility of having a female Thor introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure fans are pretty much attached to Chris Hemsworth's version of the Asgardian God of Thunder, but now that Phase 3 of the MCU is coming to an end, Marvel is planning to bring a new narrative to the franchise, and with it, a new line of heroes.

Fandango recently asked Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige whether there was any possibility that Jason Aaron's female version of Thor might appear in the MCU, and while the Marvel bigwig didn't give a flat out "Yes, Jane Foster is going to be the new Thor," he also didn't rule anything out.

"We always look back to the comics to get those ideas … sometimes very specific storylines like "Civil War," sometimes just nuggets or characters like "Planet Hulk. So anything that's happened in the comics, even a female Thor, become great potentials and the ideas from which future movies can be born."

Marvel's always been keen on taking ideas from the comics, the studio might find it a bit difficult to introduce the Jane Foster version of Thor into the franchise. Natalie Portman hasn't been that subtle about her ambivalence with the franchise. Either Marvel could try to work things out with the actress, or they could pass the role on to someone else, maybe Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

Meanwhile, before even thinking about having Thor replaced, fans are going to watch Thor go on another exciting adventure when Thor: Ragnarok premieres on November 3, 2017.
