Kevin Feige: Avengers 4 Will Give MCU's 10-Year Story a 'Definitive End'

It's been ten years since the first Iron Man, and Marvel Studios is building up to an end of their first decade of films. This end will apparently come in Avengers 4, and Kevin Feige teases what to expect.

Talking to the Toronto Sun, Feige explains:

"Storylines can come to an end… The best stories do come to an end. Return of the Jedi was an ending for a long time and as a 10-year-old in 1983 that carried me through 30 years until there was a sequel. That hasn't happened before in the superhero genre. A new actor comes in and a new storyline starts right away. We wanted to do it this way because we think that the best stories have a definitive ending to a storyline. That's certainly what's going to happen next year with Avengers 4."

So far, we know that the actors with ending contracts are Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. Everyone expects either one of their characters to die in Avengers 4, but Feige has just confirmed that Marvel Studios may be looking for replacements for their mantles.

Some people are already looking at Falcon and Winter Soldier to take on the Captain America mantle, but I'm curious what would happen to Iron Man. Will we get Ironheart eventually? I'm hopeful Thor just becomes the new ruler of Asgard, and we just see him in minor roles in the future.

Though Avengers 4 will be an end, that doesn't mean that the MCU has stopped moving forward. There are still a bunch of sequels well underway, and hopefully some more obscure titles as well. Fingers crossed they go back to making an Inhumans film.

Avengers 4 is slated for a release on May 3, 2019.
