Keri Russell Talks About Reuniting With J.J. Abrams On Star Wars: Episode IX

It's been more than a decade since American drama television series Felicity came to an end, but now it looks like actress Keri Russell is reuniting with series creator J. J. Abrams working on Lucasfilm's next movie, Star Wars: Episode IX.

Speaking together with Deadline about the end of her latest show The Americans ahead of the 2018 Primetime Emmys, Russell was asked what it was like to work with Abrams again after the years that they've worked apart. According to Russell, she couldn't be any happier to have Abrams direct Episode IX.

"It is just so much more fun to work with someone that you like so much," Russell told the publication during the interview. "I mean, we see each other and then we talk nonstop and fill in all the details of the past years, and you know, it's just nice when you have that kind of fun and history with someone. It makes it all that much more enjoyable. When J.J. calls so unexpectedly, cool things happen."

It's been definitely quite a while since Felicity. The series which centered around the college experiences of Russell's character Felicity Porter became one of the "All-Time 100 Best TV Shows" on Time Magazine and one of the "Best School Shows Of All Time" by AOL TV.

Right now, there's very little information about Russell's role in the Star Wars sequel to The Last Jedi, however, there has been a lot of speculation that either the Felicity star will be playing Rey's (Daisy Ridley) mother in the film, or she'll be playing Mara Jade, the wife of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to premiere on December 20, 2019.
