Kelsey Grammer Courted For Lead Role in DC Universe Doom Patrol Series

When Doom Patrol was revealed as the title for an episode of Titans, fans were excited to see the oddball group in live-action. Not long after, it was revealed that the group would be getting their own DC Universe show, which was even more exciting. The cherry on top of this fantastic news is the recent report that Warner Bros. and DC Universe want Frasier's Kelsey Grammer in it.

According to The Hashtag Show, Grammer is being courted to play as The Chief, who recruits all of these oddball characters in order to do good by the world. Think Professor Xavier but with hair and less-marketable students, though that latter statement might not be a popular one with DC fans.

Should he accept the role, this would be Grammer's second pitch-perfect casting in a comic book film. Grammer was previously cast as Hank McCoy aka Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand, which was not a good movie by any means, but many did like Grammer as the character.

While not as popular as the X-Men, Doom Patrol has gained a reputation for being in some of the weirdest and most innovative comic books around. People can thank Grant Morrison for that though the recent Young Animal version from Gerard Way also gained a lot of acclaim from critics.

No release date for Doom Patrol has been confirmed, though DC Universe is aiming for an early 2019 date. The series will have 13 episodes.
