Justice League Will See Wonder Woman’s Personal Journey

Wonder Woman may be the only lady in the band of brother heroes of Justice League, but she may have the most growth as far as what we can witness in the movie.

Director Patty Jenkins has already touched on the fact that her film Wonder Woman will touch on the good values that the Amazonian princess possesses. These include love and justice, a kind of purity that makes her more than just a fighting warrior princess in her solo movie.

We already know that Wonder Woman will be set in the background of earthly war, and it's easy to see the story taking Wonder Woman from the pure-hearted goddess who wanted to give humanity a chance to someone who is jaded by our reality.

But apparently, her story will continue on in Justice League, as director Zack Snyder teases. In an interview with USA Today, Snyder has finally given audiences the potential transition from one solo movie to a superhero-studded one without losing focus.

He shared that what had started out as Wonder Woman seeing the atrocities of man in her solo movie will transform into an understanding on Diana Prince's part when she becomes the co-leader (as far as I'm concerned) of the Justice League.

"Humanity isn't always the most kind and awesome thing. It has its moments, but it can be brutal, and her coming to terms with that dichotomy is what we come to learn about her. And in Justice League, she's fully evolved into someone who's embraced mankind, partly through Superman's sacrifice. She's like, ‘All right, I've got to pick it up.'"

This kind of dissolution of dichotomies is a very basic approach to storytelling. But the fact is that, when done right, you know it can work into a very compelling narrative. I've said it time and again, but Captain America: Civil War remains a big example of this in my book.

If Snyder and the rest at DC and Warner Bros pull this off, we're looking at a grand uphill climb for the DC Films franchise. Wonder Woman is set for theaters on June 2.
