Jumanji's Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Won’t Be Running For President In 2020

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's fans might have been clamoring for the action star to consider running for the presidency over the past year, but it looks like the campaign might not be happening anytime soon.

Speaking with Vanity Fair to help promote the release of his newest action film, Skyscraper, Johnson turned down fans hopes saying that The Rock 2020 just can't happen yet. The Rock might be one of the biggest names in Hollywood now, but the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star feels like he just isn't ready for such a huge position just yet.

"Unfortunately I don't see it happening in 2020," the actor told the publication. "It's a position that requires years of hard work and experience to learn the skills. There's a lot of ground to cover, and due to my schedule, it's not possible in 2020."

However, while Johnson says he won't be running for the presidency after President Donald Trump finishes her term in 2020, the actor isn't completely ruling out the idea. Not only does the action star say that he has so much respect for the position, but that the possibility of running for office is something that he's seriously considered.

"What I need is time to go out and learn," Johnson said.

Of course, actors winning a seat at the government is nothing new. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and the number of years he's served as the Governor of California. Johnson just probably needs a little more time to think about the position and possibly a little more time to learn a little about government politics.

Skyscraper is set to release on July 13, 2018.
