The release of The Rise of Skywalker is getting near. Besides concluding the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars fans are curious to see how the story will tackle Poe Dameron and Finn's relationship. Especially since some people see the two heading into quite a romantic direction, but director J.J. Abrams gives us a hint on what's to expect about the two in Episode IX.

In a recent interview with Variety, Abrams explained Finn and Poe's dynamic and where exactly their relationship stands. The director said, for him, their relationship is "far deeper than a romantic one." He claims both of the characters have a "deep bond," under the circumstances of how they met, and because they also have a "willingness to be as intimate as they are." Abrams said even though Finn and Poe are "afraid" or "unsure," they would still be "bold, daring and brave."

That being said, Abrams teases that there is still a possibility of some sort of LGBTQ representation present in the movie. "It was important to me that people who go to see the movie feel that they're being represented in the film," he added.

The director pointed out that he's not actually giving away anything about what will take place in the film, and said, "But I did just say what I just said."

This obviously shows that there wouldn't be a romantic relationship between Finn and Poe, and it could get fans who ship the two become disappointed. Regardless, we can't wait to see the dynamic between the two and witness how they would fact this battle together.
