Ever since the character was revealed in the pilot episode of The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans deemed the adorable creature as Baby Yoda because he resembles a younger version of the Jedi Master. The character is also referred to as The Child, but fans are really curious to know his real name, and it seems like Taika Waititi has the answer.

Waititi, who starred and directed an episode of The Mandalorian, recently revealed that he knows The Child's name and that he is, indeed, not named Baby Yoda. He did not say the name though, instead, he told the fans to wait for the show's creator, Jon Favreau, to give the name away.

Following this interview, Waititi took to Twitter to respond to the news. He didn't reveal Baby Yoda's real name again, however, he jokingly did mention that The Child's name could be Nigel. You can check out his tweet below.

Obviously, Waititi can't reveal that information yet but fans are expecting that they'd eventually find out soon. After all, it seems like Mando's mission at the end of the first season is to bring The Child to his home planet to reunite with his kind. Viewers are also hopeful that they'd get to learn more about their mysterious species very soon.

For now, fans could feel free to refer to the character as The Child or Baby Yoda, especially since Favreau thinks that it is the "easiest, shortest, most hashtagable way to identify" the adorable creature.
