Plot details about Matt Reeves' The Batman are mostly kept under wraps but actor Jeffrey Wright has been doing some comic book research about the Caped Crusader that might tease what's to come in the film and could also confirm the fans' speculations.

Taking to Instagram, Wright shares a photo of his copy of The Long Halloween. This is a follow-up post to a material he also shared, Batman: The Golden Age Vol. 1. You can check it out below.

The Long Halloween is written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim Sale. It is a 13-issue limited series that was released back in 1996. Fans have been speculating that Reeves' movie could be heavily-inspired by this, with the storyline rumored to be set in Bruce Wayne's second year as the Dark Knight. The Long Halloween also takes place not long after Year One, which was what the fans initially speculated. Since The Batman will focus on the character's skills as a detective, Wright's post only points to the possibility of the comic tying into the movie.

That said, The Long Halloween tells the story of a mysterious villain killing a victim once a month. This character isn't among the villains that'll be appearing in the film, so Reeves could most likely just be taking some inspiration from the comic series. The director has previously mentioned that he won't be adapting any story, but the film will have some comic influences.

Aside from Wright, The Batman also stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravits, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and John Turturro. The film is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
