We haven’t seen much of Rose Tico in the promotional materials for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. She wasn't included in the previous trailers and there’s only a few merchandise where her character is featured. Fortunately, Kelly Marie Tran’s character finally showed up in the recent trailer, and it could hint about Rose’s bigger role in the upcoming film.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Tran shares a little teaser about her role. Rose Tico’s character made her debut as a Resistance Mechanic in Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi. But Tran claims that she is now in the Resistance “in a big way,” and she thinks that it’s going to be “very cool.”

Although she didn’t say much of what she was going to do in the film, she revealed that she had to learn “everything that had to do with being in a war.” She shares that she had to learn how to hold a gun too, which she has never done before. “Things like that, that you don’t even think about when you’re watching this movie,” she explained. “We’re all real people living real lives.”

Tran’s described her training which is similar to that of Naomi Ackie’s Janna. She also had to learn to ride horses, while shooting arrows at the same time. Of course, this isn’t done normally, so they had to learn “every little thing.”

She points out that the production of the film is massive and “there’s so much detail” involved so they’re putting a lot of effort into it. She revealed that there’s “so much work that goes into everything.”

We had a glimpse of Rose Tico in the trailer where she was seen with Dominic Monaghan’s new character. Starting as a mechanic, Rose teases that she has leveled up in The Rise of Skywalker which could mean that we will get to see more of her in the upcoming film.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on Dec. 20.
