Star Wars: The High Republic Gets Delayed Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic

Star Wars fans have been looking forward to The High Republic since its announcement back in February, given that it takes place 200 years before The Phantom Menace. However, it looks like the wait would be a little longer than expected, with publishing initiative delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lucasfilm recently announced that Charles Soule's The High Republic: Light of the Jedi as well as Justina Ireland's The High Republic: A Test of Courage will now be released on January 5, 2021. While Claudia Gray's The High Republic: Into the Dark has been delayed to February 2, 2021.

Marvel's Star Wars: The High Republic series and IDW Publishing's Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures series will be given a new release date as well, but will be announced at a later time.

Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain provided a letter that was published on StarWars.com. Moving the launch ensures that it'll be "as good and epic as it deserves to be." He acknowledges the fans' excitement and patience for the launch since he has been "wanting to tell this story for years" too.

While he "can't say much" about the details of the publishing event, Siglain assures that the story architects are "continuing to work away on this new era of stories." "You'll hear from them this summer and when you do, be sure to ask them about 'The Hero of Hetzal,' 'the twins,' the 'Blade of Bardotta,' the Starros and San Tekka clans, and the Storms," he wrote. "You're not going to believe what they've got in store for the Jedi and the Republic."

It's a bummer that we'd have to wait till next year for The High Republic, but Siglain's tease about the event surely is intriguing.
