Though Star Wars films are going on a hiatus, the franchise’s future in television is bright and exciting. The second season of The Mandalorian will be released this year, and the final season of The Clone Wars is currently airing. There’s also the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and the Rogue One prequel series. Details of the last two shows are yet to be revealed, but it looks like the latter already got its synopsis.
The Illuminerdi claims that they have uncovered the synopsis for the untitled Cassian Andor series. While it doesn’t reveal that much, it teases more elements of spying and espionage. You can check out the synopsis below:
"Follows the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."
The synopsis provided a little bit of a better sense of what’s to come in the show and it seems like it’ll be set in the earliest days of the Rebellion, in addition to a slightly more mature tone, and potentially scarier encounters.
In a previous interview, Diego Luna revealed that they will start shooting the series this year. That said, given the coronavirus pandemic that caused several productions to be halted, it might get pushed back as well, but there’s no word about that yet. The actor teased a “different approach” to the show and it won’t be the “typical way” of telling a story.
He admits that he knows “very little” about the series but he has already read some scripts. It seems like the actor is excited to reprise his character as well and though the fans know the ending, they are yet to know how it’ll all go down.
The untitled Rogue One prequel series does not have a release date yet.
