With the release of Star Wars #73, Marvel explores the story of Darth Vader's encounter with C-3PO on planet K-43. The reunion isn't at all what fans would expect as Anakin attempts to use the kind droid into doing something against its will.

This article contains spoilers.

Han Solo and Luke Skywalker successfully lured Imperial troops to planet K-43. Together with Chewbacca, C-3PO was tasked to blow up the planet shortly after. This act was an attempt to show the Rebels' retaliation towards the Empire (via CBR).

There was a bit of a problem though. The planet is actually home to rock people called Krakans. While C-3PO and Chewbacca tried to switch off the detonators, Darth Vader caught up to them. He then tried to order C-3PO to weaponize the rock monsters.

Vader instantly knew that the Krakans are similar to those of droid. They have no emotions but are actually intelligent. C-3PO tried to argue with the Sith Lord about enslavement and genocide. Eventually, Vader got annoyed because of the droid's "kind nature."

C-3PO eventually followed Vader's order to translate his message in order to turn the rock people into his soldiers. Vader's plan deemed successful when the Krakens bowed down to the Sith Lord. It looks like C-3PO and Chewbacca won't be able to get out of the situation now. Seeing he followed Vader's orders, while Chewbacca is cornered by Stormtroopers.

However, when Vader tried to approach the Krakans, they suddenly stood up and began to attack his squadron. This scene showed how C-3PO effectively fooled Vader. His plan was successful because the Sith Lord won't be able to read their minds because they're droids and rocks. While that was happening, Chewbacca was able to take down the Stormtroopers and escaped along with C-3PO.

Vader was furious with C-3PO and he's already planning to take on revenge for what the droid did. But he knew that the droid wasn't his goal for the mission, it was Luke and Han. Even though C-3PO lured Vader into a trap, it could just make his plans to destroy the planet much bigger and worse for the Krakans.
